Contract furniture has come far since it's origin in dark corporate offices. This year's offering at biannual trade fair Orgatec in Cologne saw an inflow of creativity, as workspaces shift away from corporate locales for many types of interiors.
Above is an 11m tree trunk, the brand 'Dinesen' wanted to show how an organic material can be used in a work place as a table. The natural element contrasts nicely with an industrial office.
'Nendo' presented a futuristic office with an installation of large multi-coloured circular boards dividing the space. Titled 'Rolling Workspace' the boards slot into the furniture and placed into a plain white office or dull work space, these boards will instantly lift the room adding a fun touch, making offices more inviting.
Furthermore designer Tom Dixon launched a new office range that included a 'Boom' desk light and 'Slab' school desk, which make any work environment inviting and functional. The desk is a perfect size in a gorgeous dark wood, which juxtaposes beautifully with the metallic, modern and moveable 'Boom' desk light.
