Designed by Andrew Trotter of openhouse magazine, Masseria Moroseta opened in June 2016. Our creative director recently stayed at the white walled farmhouse, which is surrounded by ancient olive trees stretching towards the sea. There are many subtle details woven throughout the relaxed B&B, such as the presence of design icons like the Arco by Flos.
Recognised by all, the legendary Flos masterpiece which was first released in 1960, has become a genuine design icon. The Flos floor lamp is a stunning light that can be adapted into any living situation.
The Arco’s stainless steel stem has a satin-finish adding to the high-quality appearance of the piece, it can be swivelled and the height adjusted so Arco can be altered to suit any environment. The switch is located on a power cord and is conveniently placed so that it can be activated by ones foot which is a very unique touch. The marble base was needed to support the light and adds a beautiful finish.
"We were thinking about a lamp that shines light onto a table. They already existed, but you had to walk round them. To leave enough space around the table, the base had to be at least two meters away. Which was how the idea for Arco came into being. We wanted to make it with commercially available parts and we found that curved steel angle iron worked perfectly well.” - Achille Castiglioni (interview for Ottagono, 1970).
